National Peace Essay Contest

The National Peace Essay Contest is open to students in grades 9-12. Students need a coordinator to participate, but that can be a teacher, parent, or other adult as needed.

Students compete on the basis of an essay. This year's topic is "Confronting Crimes Against Humanity." Students will write and submit a 1,500 word essay discussing how civilians can be protected during times of conflict.

Applications are due February 1, 2009. Much more information (including specifics about the essay) is available on the National Peace Essay Contest web site.
