The Roothbert Fund Scholarships are scholarships of $2,000-3,000 on average for student spiritually motivated and "work to foster fellowship." In a typical year, about 20 scholarships are awarded. Awards are made based on applications which include essays, recommendations, and transcripts. After an initial screening, some applicants are asked to attend an interview at their own expense.

Applicants must live (or plan to) in one of the following state: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, or West Virginia. Preference is given to those planning on a career in education.

Winners are required to attend a one week fellowship conference. It's also worth noting that the awards may be renewable based on the student's performance. Applications are due January 31, 2009, You can find out more details and download the application at the Rootbert Fund web page.
