Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship 2010

The Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship is available to college, trade or technical students who have participated in the Pennsylvania Farm Show (1993 or later).

Initial criteria include the following:
"the applicant must be a current or previous member of 4-H and/or FFA. The applicant must have exhibited in at least one of the following shows/areas at the Pennsylvania Farm Show:

• a junior market steer, lamb, or hog in 2000 or later
• a junior market goat in 2003 or later
• a junior breeding meat goat, beef, or sheep in 2006 or later
• a junior dairy goat or dairy cattle in 2006 or later
• a farm product/family living project in 2008 or later"

Students are judged for both leadership and achievements, as well as other criteria.  The application is very lengthy, and I couldn't save a copy as I completed it (just experimenting).  I can only recommend that students complete a paper copy and then complete and print one page at a time online.

While I see no mention of the amount offered by this scholarship, a little googling led me to this page, which indicates that  "23 youth scholarship winners were awarded $3,500 (each), totaling $80,500."  This was for last year.  I can only guess from the context that awards vary annually based on funds raised.

The deadline to enter is October 15, 2010 (postmarked).  You can find more information and the application itself on the Pennsylvania Farm Show web site.

PS  Sorry if this should be titled 2011.  I want to do my best to let students know of the due date, rather than the date of the show.
