The Best Buy Scholarships (the last round) awarded $1,500 TO EACH OF 1500 students. Another 51 students received $10,000 each. Best Buy Scholarships are awarded based on community service and work experience (I'm guessing a part time job at Best Buy couldn't hurt, but I'm ging to ask them).
Wow! They got right back to me:
"Regarding your scholarship question, employees of BBY and/or children of
employees are eligible (and encouraged) to apply for the scholarships.
The program opens in about 2 weeks so be sure you check back to the
website at
www.bestbuy.com/scholarships."
