The awards are based on academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and community service. There is a three phase screening process that culminates with a "Scholar's Weekend" in Atlanta. For what it's worth, this scholarship gets a lot of attention. To put it in perspective, I've worked with some great students over the years, and I've never had one get past the initial screening phase.
Bottom line: To have a real shot at this you'd better be very near the top of your class and really exceptional in activities or community service--or both!
An online application is available in August, and the application deadline is October 31 of the student's senior year in high school. You can find the most up-to-date information at the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
